Polos GD32VF103 Alef Board Introduction


Today we introduce our new series of boards in RISC-V 32 bit core – Polos. The first board named Polos GD32VF103 Alef Board.

Polos GD32V Alef Board use the first general risc-v 32 bit core MCU in the world – GD32VF103CBT6, made by Chinese company GigaDevice. The GD32VF103CBT6 device is a 32-bit general-purpose microcontroller based on the RISC-V core with best ratio in terms of processing power, reduced power consumption and peripheral set. The RISC-V processor core is tightly coupled with an Enhancement Core-Local Interrupt Controller (ECLIC), SysTick timer and advanced debug support.

Polos GD32V Alef Board is a small size breakout board. The board size is ???, but there is a Micro USB connector, which supports USB OTG. And An 8M high speed crystal and 32.768K RTC crystal is on the board. All pins are avaible for users. It supports UART/DFU/JTAG to program the board. And we design a breakout board named Polos Alef Breakout for it. So it is easy to use and develop it.

1. Nuclei Studio

Polos GD32V Alef Board is developed by C/C++ with Nuclei Studio, which is an IDE based on Eclipse, developed by GD32V’s RISC-V core designer. We recommend it.

The NucleiStudio is downloaded in the here. After building the project, it produces a hex file. we can three method to program it.

  • UART – Just an UART ISP tool and the GD32 MCU ISP Software.
  • DFU – USB with the GD32 MCU DFU Software
  • JTAG – JTAG tools

2. Arduino

If you want to develop it with Arduino, you can use the Longduino.
